This magnificent 15th century palazzo stands on a 356 acre hilltop estate near Lake Garda. An elegant spa hotel with a rich and interesting history, Palazzo Arzaga has the comfortable, stylish air of a grand country home with beautiful frescoes adorning hallways and even some of the 84 bedrooms.

The emphasis at Palazzo Arzaga is on complete relaxation - whether through sport, spa or just the sheer indulgence of lazy days, wonderful food and leisurely exploration of the surrounding countryside. Two golf courses wind their way through the grounds - an 18 hole designed by Jack Nicklaus II and a 9 hole course designed by Gary Player. In the superb Spa, the spa manager will tailor make a programme for you from the extensive range of spa treatments, facials, and massages. Try the stretching massage in the reliable hands of the therapists or the 90 minute stone therapy massage. Another 'must' is the aqua gym in the Slim and Tonic pool, rich in natural minerals and kept at a constant 32 degrees. Bliss!

If you can tear yourself away from the Palazzo Arzaga, the nearby town of Desenzano, on the shores of Lake Garda, is worth visiting especially on Sundays for shopping. Here and in Verona (40 minutes away) the leather shops are superb - shoe-aholics take note.

Verona's stunning open air amphi-theatre hosts the annual Verona Opera festival in July and August, and we can arrange tickets and transfers from Palazzo Arzaga.
